Veg mushroom biryani. Mushroom biryani recipe with step by step photos. This is a spicy, tasty and easy one-pot mushroom biryani recipe from the Chettinad cuisine. This is the vegetarian version of popular Chettinad biryani made with mushrooms.

Traditionally a biryani is made with meat, marinated in yogurt and then layered with parboiled basmati rice & herbs.

It is then dum cooked to trap the steam.

Since this is a vegetarian biryani it can be made following this simple one pot method.

You can have Veg mushroom biryani using 15 ingredients and 7 steps. Here is how you achieve that.

Ingredients of Veg mushroom biryani

  1. You need of mushroom boil 2 pieces cut.

  2. Prepare of big onions chopped.

  3. It’s of big tomato chopped.

  4. You need of cloves.

  5. You need of Garlic chopped small piece.

  6. It’s of Ciammion.

  7. Prepare of bay leaf.

  8. You need of cumin seeds.

  9. Prepare of Veg biryani Masala.

  10. You need of coriander powder.

  11. It’s of red chilli powder.

I also add fresh cilantro, mint and cashews for the crunch.

Veg mushroom biryani step by step

  1. First non stick pan add oil.

  2. Now add cloves garlic cinnamon bay leaf cumin seeds.

  3. Now add chopped onions cook to 5 minutes light golden brown.

  4. Now add tomato add 2 tsp of water soft cook 5 minutes.

  5. Now add mushroom add turmeric powder red chilli powder coriander powder veg biryani Masala salt kasurti mix well cook 3,4 minutes..

  6. Now add 2 water add grated cocount mix it well water boil add rice mix it well. Cook 20 minutes..

  7. Ready veg mushroom biryani.

Veggies: so traditionally meat is used in biryani but since we are making veg biryani, we are using assorted vegetables here.

I have used potato, cauliflower, beans and carrots.

You can use green peas, mushrooms or even paneer would be a good addition.

Spices: aromatic and exotic spices (both whole and ground) are a must for a good biryani.

So I used to refer non-veg biryani recipe too & try it by replacing chicken or mutton with vegetables like mushroom, Gobi/cauliflower and soya chunks.
