Fried garlic raw banana poriyal with rice. The taste of banana flower and the flavor from ground powder makes this poriyal a wholesome and a great accompaniment for Rice. Vazhaipoo (Banana Blossom) is loaded with fiber, protein and many more nutrients. These florets inside the blossom can be eaten raw or cooked like a poriyal, usili or vada.

This varuval has a nice onion flavour and the onions makes the banana more tastier and soft.

I actually skipped adding water in this and cooked the poriyal long and slow in its own moisture.

But you could add little water to help along.

  1. It’s 1 of raw banana.

  2. You need 1 cup of Peeled garlic.

  3. It’s 1 cup of onion pieces.

  4. You need 1 tsp of cumin powder.

  5. You need 3 tsp of ghee.

  6. It’s 1 tsp of cumin,mustard seeds.

  7. Prepare 1 strand of curry leaves.

  8. You need 1/2 tsp of salt.

  9. It’s 1/2 tsp of pepper.

  10. You need Pinch of asfoeteda.

  11. Prepare 1/2 tsp of turmeric.

  12. It’s 1 tsp of green chilli pieces.

If you do not wish to add lemon juice, you can always skip it.

I made homemade vazhakkai chips as the boys love it very much and some finger licking Chettinad Vazhakkai Kurma and still have some left.

While making this vazhakkai poriyal, I do not like to add onion.

However, I add garlic as the raw banana can cause gas and garlic helps to balance it.

  1. Boil the raw banana Peel and cut pieces keep a side.

  2. Heat a cadai pour ghee put peeled Garlic on it fri well once it get golden colour take out.

  3. Then put cu,mustard seeds with the same cadai once its splits then add onion,chilli pieces,curry leaves fri well.

  4. Then add raw banana already cutted pieces,add salt,turmeric,pepper,cumin powder mix well.

  5. Once nicely fried add fried garlic onion. To curry.

  6. Take a plate place poriyal with rice ready to serve.

Super easy potato and raw banana poriyal which taste amazing and is so easy to make as well.

This is perfect with some rice and any gravy.
