How to Prepare To Try At Home Arisi upma Rice upma Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Arisi upma Rice upma. Arisi Upma, a very simple and traditional, breakfast or evening tiffin. Its a common breakfast in most of the Tamil Brahmin houses. Arisi Upma is made using Raw rice, toor dal, pepper along with tempering ingredients.

Very easy and simple recipe and one pot meal if you are looking for a filling breakfast or dinner.

However, when we think of upma, we generally think of rava upma (which is more commonly available in restaurants).

To make this is Arisi (Rice) Upma, I have used broken down rice, and it is a very hearty dish.

You can have Arisi upma Rice upma using 9 ingredients and 7 steps. Here is how you cook it.

Ingredients of Arisi upma Rice upma

  1. Prepare 2 cup of rice.

  2. It’s 1 of onion.

  3. It’s 6 of garlic pods.

  4. You need 10 of curry leaves.

  5. You need 1 tsp of mustard leaves.

  6. It’s 6 cup of water.

  7. It’s To taste of Salt.

  8. Prepare 3-4 of dry chillies.

  9. It’s 2 tsp of oil.

This dish uses very common and accessible ingredients.

It is simple to make too.

The key to making good arisi upma is to have sufficient oil and knowing when to turn the flame down.

The rule of thumb I follow is - leave it open on medium flame until the water is absorbed fully by the rice+dhal.

Arisi upma Rice upma instructions

  1. Soak rice for 30 minutes.

  2. Chop onions, curry leaves, garlic and red chillies..

  3. Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add mustard seeds, chana dal and urad dal the mustard seeds must splutter and crackle.

  4. Now add onions and fry it till it turns soft and then add garlic, red chillies and curry leaves.

  5. Add 6 cup water and then add salt mix it and add rice..

  6. Once it starts to boil and then close the lid and pressure cook it for 3 whistles for high flame..

  7. Serve it with sambar or rasam.

Procedure to make Arisi Upma - To make the rice rava - Take the rice along with Tuvaram paruppu and black pepper in a wide bowl and sprinkle about ¼ cup of water over the rice.

The rice should be just wet and not soaking wet.
