This curry is mildly spiced and tastes good with plain rice, chapati.

Peas pulao goes well with a yogurt raita or a nice veg curry like veg kurma, restaurant style paneer butter masala or paneer makhani or non-veg gravy.

I made this peas pulao, a simple chicken curry and a carrot raita for our lunch during the last weekend.

For the first time I made this curry and it was great.

  1. Clean rice and cook on low flame for half an hour..

  2. Cut all the vegetables.

  3. Make garlic paste..

  4. Heat pan. Add 1 tbsp oil. Cook onions until translucent. Add garlic. Cook until it starts sticking to the bottom.

  5. Crush all the spices to form a spice mixture..

  6. Add carrots. Cook until they start to soften..

  7. Add beans. Add salt. Cook until they soften..

  8. Add some of the spice mixture and green chillies. Cook until the water evaporates, and oil starts oozing out..

  9. Add mushrooms and pepper. Cook until the water evaporates fully..

  10. Add 1 cup of water. Boil for 20 minutes with lid closed..

  11. Take a pan. Heat it with butter..

  12. Add onions and garlic. Cook until translucent..

  13. Add sugar. Cook until brown..

  14. Add green chillies and green peas. Cook for 2 minutes..

  15. Add spice mixture and salt..

  16. Add rice. Add chilli flakes..

  17. Add coriander. Taste and adjust..

  18. Add curd/fresh cream to the curry Add pepper and salt. Taste and adjust. Let it cook until the sauce comes together..

  19. Garnish with lemon and serve together..

The addition of yogurt adds a special sourness.

The ground poppy seeds and cashew nuts paste made it rich texture.
