Traditional home made chicken curry. A traditional North Indian (Punjabi) curry dish. An aromatic and spicy combination of chicken pieces and potatoes cooked in a tomato based stew. This recipe can be easily adapted to suit individual spice tastes.

This chicken curry recipe is quick, easy, and delicious.

You can use any part of the chicken, but I have used chicken legs because that what I had.

Ingredients of Traditional home made chicken curry

  1. Prepare 750 gm of boneless chicken.

  2. You need 2 cup of finely chopped onion.

  3. Prepare 2 tb of spn ginger garlic paste.

  4. It’s 1 of chopped tomato.

  5. It’s 1/2 cup of whipped yogurt(no lumps should be there).

  6. You need of Cooking oil.

  7. You need 3 tb of spn desi ghee.

  8. It’s of Spices: 1 bay leaf, 1 black cardamom, 1" cinnamon.

  9. Prepare 1/2 tb of spn turmeric powder.

  10. It’s 1 tb of spn red chilli powder.

  11. It’s 1 tb of spn coriander powder.

  12. It’s to taste of Salt according.

  13. Prepare 4 tb of spn chicken masala.

  14. It’s 1/2 tb of spn garam masala.

  15. You need 1 cup of chopped coriander leaves.

Season the chicken with turmeric, chili powder, cumin, garam masala, ginger, and white wine vinegar, and mix well.

Heat oil in a pot over a medium heat.

Add the chicken and cook until brown.

Traditional home made chicken curry step by step

  1. In a pan took some oil. In hot oil add bay leaf, cradamom, cinnamon. add the chicken and fry it until water goes off from it. (Med heat).

  2. Take out the chicken in a bowl or plate..

  3. Add some more oil in the pan and heat it. Add chopped onion and fry it well. When it turns into golden in color add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder & 2 tb spn salt (as pr the taste) and cook it for 5 mins. (med heat).

  4. Add fried chicken & desi ghee and mix it well. Cook it for 5 mins. (Med heat).

  5. Add ginger garlic paste and cook it for 2 mins. Now add chopped tomato and cook it for 5 more mins. (Med heat).

  6. Add yogurt and mix it well and cook it for 10 mins..

  7. Add 1/2 cup water and add chicken masala, garam masala and 1/2 tb spn salt and mix it. Cook it for 10 mins.(med heat).

  8. Now switch off the gas. Add chopped coriander leaves..

  9. Chicken curry is ready to eat..

This is a Fresca, Saucy, Chicken Curry to be served with white rice, or Basmati Rice.

I grew up off of this very recipe, and omitting the butter, it is a healthy dish.
