Ingredients of Moong Dal Payasam or Paruppu Payasam

  1. Prepare 1 Cup of Moong Dal (Dhuli).

  2. You need 3 Cups of Water.

  3. Prepare 1/2 teaspoon of cardamom powder.

  4. It’s 1 Cup of Coconut milk.

  5. Prepare To taste of Jaggery grated.

  6. It’s 1 Tablespoon of Raisins.

  7. You need 1 Tablespoon of Cashew.

  8. It’s 1 Tablespoon of chopped Coconut.

  9. You need 2 Tablespoon of Desi ghee.

  10. Prepare of Garnishing.

  11. It’s As needed of grated coconut.

Paruppu Payasam is a dessert made by combining a delicious mix of split moong dal & Coconut milk.

This paruppu payasam is a very easy dessert to make.

The only thing to pay attention to is the consistency of cooking the moong dal.

Moong Dal Payasam or Paruppu Payasam step by step

  1. Turn on the flame of the gas and dry roast the Moong Dal for 4 mins in slow and medium flame. Wash and soak in water for 30 mins..

  2. Then Pressure cook it and wait for 3 whistle and wait to release its gas by it's own. Now take another Pan and place it on gas stove and pour 1 Teaspoon of ghee and now boil Dal for 2 to 3 mins..

  3. Then in another Pan melt Jaggery with 3/4 th Cup Water and just pour it to the Moong Dal and cook it for 15 mins in slow flame..

  4. Now add coconut milk and stir it continuously for 2 mins in slow flame. Add cardamom powder, Dont over cook it,Turn off the flame..

  5. Now take another Pan and place it on the gas and pour there 1 Teaspoon of ghee then roast all Nuts, chopped coconut, raisins turn off the gas. Now pour it to the prepared Payasam. Its ready cool it and serve with grated Coconut..

The cooked moong dal and coconut milk adds a nice bit of creaminess to the payasam.
