Ingredients of Beef Curry (Kerala Thattukada Style)

  1. It’s of Beef Cubes.

  2. Prepare of Onion Sliced.

  3. Prepare of Ginger Chopped.

  4. It’s of Curry Leaves.

  5. It’s of Water.

  6. You need of Green Chilli vertically slit.

  7. You need of Salt.

  8. Prepare of Coconut Oil.

  9. Prepare of Garlic Chopped.

  10. You need of Ginger Chopped.

  11. Prepare of Kashmiri Chilli Powder.

  12. You need of Turmeric Powder.

  13. You need of Coriander Powder.

Whilst the curry is simmering, in a separate pan, bring the long grain rice (uncovered) to the boil.

Once boiling, switch to a very low heat and cover with a lid.

The gravy is made with lots of shallots, onions and spices.

The onions are browned in coconut oil, which gives a deep colour and thickness to the curry.

Beef Curry (Kerala Thattukada Style) instructions

  1. Grind all items under "To Grind" to a paste..

  2. Heat oil in a pan.Add sliced onion,ginger,green chilies and curry leaves. Saute until onion turns translucent..

  3. Add the ground masala and fry until oil starts to separate..

  4. Add beef and mix well.Add water and salt to taste,cover and cook until beef is done to your liking..

  5. Uncover and cook for few more minutes until gravy turns thick..

  6. PS:- Tastes much better from second day onward. So keep it refrigerated on day one, if you can resist it. :).

It tastes great with some soft parotta, aapam or idiyappam.
