HARE MATAR KI GHUGNI "Ghugni" is a dish popular in the Eastern Parts of India and is had either as a snack or as a side dish.
It can be made with fresh green peas or with dried peas.
This being the season for fresh green peas and they are available in plenty, I chose to make this using them.

You need 1 big cup of Green Peas (hare matar ke dane) -.

You need 1 of Onion - finely chopped.

Prepare 1 of Tomato - finely chopped.

Prepare 1 inch of Ginger - piece finely chopped.

It’s 3-4 of Green Chilli - finely chopped.

You need as per taste of Salt.

It’s 1 tsp of Turmeric Powder.

You need 1/2 tsp of -Cumin Seeds Powder.

It’s 1/2 tsp of -Black Pepper Powder.

You need 1/2 tsp of Red Chilli Powder.

Prepare 1 tbsp of -Mustard Oil or Refined Oil.
You could even use frozen peas if you wish.

Hare matar ki ghugni instructions

Heat oil in a kadhai and then add the finely chopped ginger, green chilli and onion to it. Saute till they turn slightly brown in colour..

Add the powdered spices and salt as per taste to it. Stir and cook the spices for about 15 seconds..

Then add finely chopped tomato, when the tomato is cooked and become soft then add green peas to the kadhai along with 1/2 cup water to it stir and cover the kadhai with a lid and lower the flame. Cook the green peas for 5 minutes and then remove the lid..

Now stir and cook the green peas more for 2 minutes. Then check if they have become soft and cooked.Then turn off the flame and transfer the hare matar ki ghugni prepared to a serving bowl and garnish with chopped coriander leaves..

Serve hot hare matar ki ghugni with roti or as evening snacks..
