Millet,rice flour and daal PANIYARAM/ APPE. And Appe (also called Paniyaram) are popular South Indian breakfast meals. Appe are steamed fluffy pancakes, traditionally made with fermented rice and lentil batter like that for Idli. But in this recipe, there is no need to keep the batter for fermentation overnight.

Instant sweet paniyaram recipe using whole wheat flour.

These wheat flour appam are quick to make any time as it simplifies the entire process of soaking and grinding rice, the way it is made in the traditional method.

I have added a banana to enhance the sweet flavor and can also be skipped.

You can cook Millet,rice flour and daal PANIYARAM/ APPE using 14 ingredients and 9 steps. Here is how you cook that.

Ingredients of Millet,rice flour and daal PANIYARAM/ APPE

  1. You need 1 cup of rice.

  2. You need 1/4 cup of little millets.

  3. It’s 1/4 cup of moong daal.

  4. You need to taste of Salt.

  5. You need 2 tbsp of Oil.

  6. It’s 1/2 cup of Chopped onion.

  7. Prepare 1/4 cup of grated carrot.

  8. You need 2 of green chilli.

  9. You need 1 of small piece of ginger.

  10. You need 1/4 cup of chopped capsicum.

  11. Prepare 1 sprig of green coriander finely chopped.

  12. Prepare 1/2 tbsp of Mustard seeds.

  13. You need 5-6 of curry leaves.

  14. You need 1 tbsp of Eno(optional) I didn't use it.

These Instant sweet paniyaram are best prepared with fresh coconut and cooked in ghee.

Kerala Unniyappam Recipe/Nei Appam or Sweet Paniyaram is an easy to make instant low fat sweet appam recipe.

The batter made out of rice flour, wheat flour, jaggery & ripe banana puree, flavoured with few pinches of cardamoms is poured into a mould called "Appe Pan" in which ghee is heated & fried until deep brown. paniyaram recipe

Adjust the consistency by mixing in a few tsps of rice flour / wheat flour.

Millet,rice flour and daal PANIYARAM/ APPE step by step

  1. Wash and soak rice, little millets and moong daal overnight..

  2. Grind them with green chilli and ginger. Prepare a smooth batter..

  3. Add salt, All the chopped vegetables- onion, capsicum, carrot and green coriander and Eno to it. Mix properly..

  4. Now heat 1 tbsp oil in a small pan. Put mustard seeds in it,let them crackle, now add curry leaves. Stir and pour in the batter..

  5. Grease appe pan(a special pan to make appe). Pour batter in each cavity and cover with the lid..

  6. Cook them from both sides till golden brown and crisp..

  7. Millet,rice and daal PANIYARAMS are ready..

  8. Serve these cut, fluffy and delicious paniyarams with coconut chutney. You can use tomato chutney or mint chutney too but it tastes best with coconut chutney..

Instead of doing this sweet appams by soaking rice, you can directly do it with wheat flour or rice flour.

Just grind coconut ,jaggery n elaichi.

Sweet appam made from wheat flour would be more soft.
