Prepare of About six big seeds of fresh tomatoes.

It’s of Fresh pepper.

It’s of Dry fish.

You need of Palm oil.

Prepare of Potash.

You need of Blended crayfish.

You need cubes of Knor.

Prepare to taste of Salt.
The Urhobos also have OWO but their preparation is slightly different from the Binis.
Potash is the addendum that turns meat and or fish with spices in a boiling pot of water to OWO.
Owo can also be made without putting the pot on fire to cook.
Owo is only eaten with yam,plantain.
Bini version of Owo and yam step by step

Wash and blend your fresh tomatoes and fresh pepper.

Put in a pot and start boiling.

Season and boil your dry fish to get some fish stock.

Add your fish stock, fish, and crayfish, then continue boiling the blended pepper mix, boil till almost dried dry.

Break some potash into powder form and add, then put off your heat..

Allow to cool a little, not completed cool.

Add your palm oil and stir, you will notice the Owo will start thickening as it mix up with palm oil, you will also notice the yellowish color becoming visible, if not add a little more potash till it mixes properly with oil, the palm oil is not suppose to float on top if not you have done something wrong..
