Fish is one of the favorite sea foods at home and most times it is the fish fry or the pepper fish that is made as they are quick to make.

Ingredients of Fish curry

  1. You need of Rohu fish washed and sliced.

  2. You need of Mustard seeds.

  3. It’s of Cumin seeds.

  7. It’s of Turmeric powder.

I rarely make fish curry at home in Singapore as we do not like the taste of the variety we get here.

They are good to make fish fry or roast but do not taste good.

Taste and adjust the seasoning as necessary.

Serve the curry with rice in warmed serving bowls, sprinkled with toasted desiccated coconut, if using.

Fish curry instructions

  1. Marinate the fish in turmeric powder, salt and lemon juice for 10 minutes.

  2. . Heat the oil in a pan and deep fry both the sides of the fish pieces until slightly brown, drain and keep aside..

  3. Grind the mustard seeds, cumin seeds and garlic cloves to make a fine paste.

  4. Now once the paste is ready, add in it turmeric powder and red chilli powder..

  5. . Now heat up the remaining oil, and put the fenugreek seeds to crackle and mix the paste in the oil and stir fry for a few minutes..

  6. Add the finely chopped tomatoes and cover it and cook in a medium flame..

  7. Add the water and salt for gravy and boil it..

  8. . Now add the fried fish pieces in the gravy and cook for 5 minutes..

  9. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot fish curry with rice.

It really doesn't get easier than this.

All you need is a good fish, curry powder and a few other pantry staples like oil, salt, pepper, etc.

I'd love to say that the secret to this curry is my homemade curry powder, but I don't want to scare you away.

So, go ahead and use any curry powder you have on hand.
