  1. Preheat oven to 350°.

  2. In a large mixing bowl.

  3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. In a small bowl.

  5. Combine eggs and vanilla.

  6. Mix together with a fork.

  7. Slowly add eggs/vanilla mixture to butter/sugar mixture.

  8. Beat for 1 to 2 minutes on medium speed.

  9. In small mixing bowl.

  10. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt - stir together well.

  11. Alternate mixing in the water and flour mixture to wet ingredients (Lg bowl).

  12. Mix in walnuts and chocolate chips.

  13. Pour batter into 2 round greased and floured cake pans.

  14. Bake at 350° for 30-45 minutes.

  15. When toothpick comes out clean it is done.

  16. Cool for 10 minutes.

  17. Remove from pans.

  18. Completely cool on wire racks.

  19. Frost with Emmes Chocolate Buttercream Frosting.
