Ingredients of Mung dal with fish head

  1. It’s 1 cup of mung dal.

  2. It’s 1 of rohu fish heat.

  3. You need 1 tsp of ginger paste.

  4. It’s 1 tbsp of coriander cumin powder.

  5. Prepare 1 tsp of garlic paste.

  6. Prepare 2 tbsp of chopped coconut.

  7. You need 1 tsp of red chilli Powder.

  8. Prepare 1 tsp of cumin seed.

  9. Prepare 1 of dry red chilli.

  10. Prepare 1 tsp of turmeric powder.

  11. It’s 1/2 tsp of garam masala powder.

  12. You need To taste of salt and sugar.

Marinate fish head pieces with salt and turmeric powder.

Heat a pressure cooker and add two tbsp of this oil in it.

This authentic Bengali dish "Fish head in Mung (green gram) dal" is satiating lunch in my family.

The marinated fish head cooked with Mung dal using few spices enhance the lentil flavor.

Mung dal with fish head instructions

  1. Heat oil and fry the fish head,keep aside.

  2. Now add cumin seed, chopped coconut,bay leaf and red chilli.

  3. Add ginger garlic paste and saute well.

  4. Add cumin-coriander powder and red chilli powder and mix.

  5. Add salt and turmeric powder and fish head.

  6. Now pour dal and boil till fish head is soft.

  7. Add sugar and garam masala powder and serve.

Pour in the warm water and salt; boil till the dal is cooked.

Add extra water if the dal tends to dry out.

Add the deep fried fish head to the dal; Heat a skillet, pour in the oil.

As the seeds starts sputtering add to the boiled dal.

Remove from heat and sprinkle remaining garam masala powder over it.
