Rohu Fish Curry is made with rohu fish cubes slow cooked in a rich, flavorful and medium spicy sauce with a touch of coconut milk.

I have used rohu fish, but you can substitute rohu fish with any fish of your choice.

You can cook Rohu Fish Curry using 18 ingredients and 3 steps. Here is how you achieve that.

Ingredients of Rohu Fish Curry

  1. Prepare of Fish pieces.

  2. You need of Ginger garlic and red chillies paste.

  3. You need of Tomato Puree.

  4. It’s of Water.

  5. It’s of Salt.

  6. Prepare of kashmiri red chillies powder.

  7. Prepare of Fish Curry power.

  8. Prepare of Onions paste.

  9. Prepare of haldi(Turmeric) powder.

  10. It’s of garam masala powder.

  11. It’s of desi Ghee.

  12. Prepare of garnishing.

  13. Prepare of tomato.

  14. You need of green chillies.

  15. You need of chopped coriander leaves.

  16. It’s of onion slice.

Remove fish from pan and set aside.

Rohu Fish Masala Recipe is a thicker version of normal fish curry (jhol / rassa).

It is a simple recipe which can be enjoyed with Chapati and Tandoori Roti, a fish masala is basically rich version of Fish Curry with flavors more concentrated and intense.

Rohu is very commonly eaten in Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and the Indian states of Tripura, Nagaland, Bihar, Odisha, Assam, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Rohu Fish Curry instructions

  1. First clean the fish with enough water then add there salt and haldi powder. Mix it well or coat it properly. Now Switch on the gas stove and place a Kadhai and pour some oil there and fry the fish from both the sides. When it is done then bring them out on a plate and keep them aside..

  2. Now in the same kadhai if required add more oil then add there ginger, garlic and red chilli paste and fry it for 5 mins in a medium flame. Now add haldi powder, red chilli powder and salt and again fry the masala. Now add tomato puree to it and cook it for 5 mins in a low flame. Cover the lid of the kadhai. Now add fryied fish to it and leave one fish for Garnishing our plate. After 5 min add water and fish masala and cook it for 15 mins in a low flame and cover the lid of the kadhai..

  3. After 15 mins check the fish. Add 1/2 teaspoon of garam masala powder with 1/2 teaspoon of ghee and add coriander leaves and turn off the gas stove. Then enjoy it with hot…hot steam 🍚..

In this recipe, the fish is marinated in asafoetida and salt.

This Bengali style fish curry is the perfect accompaniment to steamed rice and a quick nap is customary post it!
