Fish Biryani /Biriani ya samaki. A Classic Indian Tin Fish biryani is not your typical specialty. The taste has no words to describe & you will most probably only find this dish in the Indian homes of South Africa, as not many restaurants have this dish on the menu.   1. Prepare 1 kg of Kingfish.

  2. It’s 2 cups of Rice.

  3. Prepare 2 tbsp of Fennel seeds.

  4. You need 3 tbsp of cumin seeds.

  5. It’s 5 tbsp of garlic ginger paste.

  6. Prepare 3 tbsp of tomatoe paste.

  7. It’s 6 of large tomatoes blended.

  8. It’s 1 cup of buttermilk or plain yogurt.

  9. Prepare 3 of dry bay leaves.

  10. It’s 2 of star Anise.

  11. It’s 6 tbsp of Biriani Masala.

  12. It’s 1 tsp of Cinnamon powder.

  13. You need of Juice of 1 lemon.

  14. You need of Orange food coloring.

  15. It’s of Salt.

  16. Prepare of Fish masala.

  17. You need of Oil for cooking.

Biriani Ya Samaki Nguru, Njegere Na Snuwbar (UAE) Vipimo.

Fluffy rice is cooked on top of a flavourful curry and adorned with herbs.

Any other long grain rice may be used in place of Basmati rice.

Any white fish such as tilapia, coley, haddock, pollock, and grouper can be used.

Fish Biryani /Biriani ya samaki step by step

  1. In a bowl add, 2 tbsp fish masala,2 tbsp of garlic ginger paste, 3 tbsp of cooking oil, 1 tbsp of white pepper powder, salt and a dash of vinegar… Mix well,marinate your fish pieces and set aside for 30 mins.

  2. Deep fry until golden brown and crisp. Set them aside.

  3. Cut 6 large onions and deep fry them till golden brown.

  4. In a cooking pot add 5 to 6 tbsp of oil and add in ur garlic ginger paste.

  5. Saute for 2 mins and in the Fennel seeds, cumin seeds, dry bay leaves, biriani masala, star Anise and cinnamon. Stir and saute it for 2 minutes.

  6. Add in the blended tomatoes, 1 cup of yogurt and the fried onions.

  7. Stir and cover to let it cook till it has reduced in half.

  8. Add in your fried fish pieces now.

  9. Stir gently and let it cook on low heat till cooked. For about 5 mins on low heat. Its ready.

  10. For the rice boil 2 cups of water and add a few Fennel seeds, a. Few cumin seeds, 2 cinnamon sticks, 3 cardamom pods, 2 dry bay leaves and salt..

  11. Let the water come to a boil and add in 2 cups of washed rice..

  12. Cook on it on low heat, till all the water dries up..

  13. Remove it and make holes in the rice using a fork and add orange food coloring into it.

  14. Put in the oven for 15 minutes to completely dry up.

  15. Your fish biriani is ready. Serve and enjoy with some fried chili.
