Masala fish curry. Masala fish curry can be prepared with a variety of different fish and seafood, such as mackerel, king mackerel, whitebait, lobster, mussels, oysters, clams, or dry shrimp. It tastes great with a side of pilaf or simple, plain boiled rice and a green salad. This Masala Fish Curry is made with a unique blend of dry spices that are roasted and ground to a masala paste.

This lip-smacking fish curry can be served with hot white rice.

I make fish curry differently each time, i like to experiment with it.

Most of the time i make fish curry with coconut, since hubby loves his fish curry with coconut in it.

You can have Masala fish curry using 22 ingredients and 11 steps. Here is how you cook it.

Ingredients of Masala fish curry

  1. You need 1 kg of Rohu fish.

  2. Prepare 1/2 teaspoon of meethi.

  3. You need 1 tablespoon of haldi /turmeric powder (marination).

  4. Prepare 1 tablespoon of salt (marination).

  5. You need 1/2 cup of sarson /mustard seeds.

  6. It’s 2 of Tejpatta/bay leaves.

  7. You need 2 of dry red chillies.

  8. It’s 4-5 of curry leaves.

  9. It’s 6-7 of garlic cloves.

  10. Prepare 4-5 of onions.

  11. Prepare 2 of tomatoes.

  12. Prepare 1 inch of ginger.

  13. Prepare 2 of green chillies.

  14. Prepare 1 tablespoon of coriander leaves.

  15. You need 2 cups of mustard oil for frying.

  16. Prepare 2 glasses of water.

  17. Prepare for of curry.

  18. Prepare 1 tablespoon of salt.

  19. You need 1 tablespoon of Turmeric powder.

  20. It’s 1/2 teaspoon of Jeera powder.

  21. It’s 1 teaspoon of garam masala.

  22. It’s 1 teaspoon of red chilli powder.

How to Make Mach Masaledar (Masala Fish Curry) Cut fish into slices.

Apply some turmeric powder and salt to fish and wash again. (This will remove the fishy smell).

Add one dry chilli, mustard, fenugreek and cumin seeds.

Masala fish curry step by step

  1. First of all wash this pieces of Rohu fish in running water nicely, then marinate it with the help of haldi powder and salt and keep a side for one hour..

  2. After that take small plates and keep out all onions, tomato, garlic, green chillies, curry leaves, Tejpatta, meethi, red chilli powder, sarson /mustard seeds and all dry masalas..

  3. Then chopped this onion, tomato, green chilli, ginger, garlic cloves, grind it to make paste with mustard seeds..

  4. Then take a fry pan put oil here, put on the gas stove at lower medium flame, fry all pieces of fish one by one..

  5. Then take another fry pan put 4 tablespoons Oil, when heated on the gas stove at lower medium flame put meethi seeds, then Tejpatta, curry leaves and red chilli..

  6. After that when it becomes semi cooked put onion paste first after then, garlic ginger green chillies, mustard seeds paste cook well for 5 minutes..

  7. Then put tomato paste mix well and cook for 5 minutes again..

  8. After that add all dry spices except salt and cooked it upto fifteen minutes, though all the water of onion, tomato paste gets absorbed and the colour of the masala is changed to become brownish..

  9. After that put two glasses of water, put salt and mix well..

  10. When this curry gets boiled then put all fish fries one by one and put gas stove at lower medium level and cook it for another fifteen minutes..

  11. Then switch off the gas flame and garnish with coriander leaves and serve it with steam rice, papad salad and fish fries too..
