In this dal recipe no other ingredients or spices are added, so in Marathi language it is called Sadha Varan means plain dal.

You need 1 bowl of cooked tur dal.

It’s Few of Chopped green chillies.

Traditionally Varan means only cooked dal with little haldi and hing added to it while cooking. what you've made is Ambat varan or phodiniche varan.

Cook tur dal adding hing, turmeric powder, oil in a pressure cooker,.

Let it cool, heat pan,.

Add oil to it after that add cumin seeds and mustard seeds let it splutter..

Now add garlic and green chillies to it add curry leaves and asafoetida. Fry it to 20 to 30 secs..

Now add cooked tur dal to it mix well..

Put garam masala,red chilli powder as per your taste.

Add salt and 2/3 kokum(amsul) to it.give nice boil..

Add chopped coriander. Serve hot with rice.you can add coconut also but its summer so I skipped.it also adds taste..
