Idiyappam. Idiyappam is usually served with a variety of side dishes like peas curry, vegetable kurma, chicken stew, egg or chicken curry. Another popular way to serve Idiyappam is with a dollop of ghee, grated coconut and sugar or with sweetened coconut milk. Idiyappam (Malayalam: ഇടിയപ്പം, Tamil: இடியாப்பம்), also known as string hopper, nool puttu (Malayalam: നൂൽപ്പുട്ട്, Tamil: நூல்புட்டு), or noolappam (Malayalam: നൂലപ്പം), is a rice noodle dish originating from the Indian states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu and as well as from Sri Lanka.
You can also serve with Chicken Stew.
Idiyappam is also called as Nool Puttu in Karnataka and String Hoppers in Srilanka.
Idiyappam is easy to make provided you follow a few helpful points and you will get soft idiyappam.

Ingredients of Idiyappam

Idiyappam can be served with veg kurma or mushroom korma or veg stew or kadala curry.

Easy cleaning After every use all you need to do is wash the barrel, disk, piston and the trays.
Idiyappam instructions

Firstly, in a kadai take 1¼ cup of water. also add salt and oil. stir well and get water to boil.

Further simmer the flame, and add roasted rice flour..

Mix continuously till the dough is formed. now turn off the flame, cover and rest for 5 minutes..

Furthermore, with wet hands, knead and combine together. be careful, as the dough is going to be very hot..

Now take noodle mould and fix to the chakli maker. grease the chakli maker with some oil..

This prevents dough from sticking to mould. now make a cylindrical shape out of dough and place the dough inside maker..

Keep covered the rest dough else they will turn hard. tighten the lid and start preparing idiyappam. on the greased idli plate press in circular motion..

Further, steam it for 10 minutes..

Finally, serve idiyappam with tomato kurma.
