Recipe: Delicious Veg Salna Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Veg Salna. Vegetable Salna Recipe / Veg Salna Recipe / Vegetable Chalna Recipe. I wanted to share a restaurant style actually it is thattukada style vegetable salna recipe in this blog. I make my vegetable korma or curry in a whole lot of ways, but i think i haven't shared much in this blog.

In this recipe, veg parotta salna is shared.

The process is a bit long but once done we can store it in the refrigerator and use it for two days.

This homemade salna recipe is an absolute alternate for regular chutney, sambar, dal, etc.

You can cook Veg Salna using 23 ingredients and 7 steps. Here is how you cook that.

Ingredients of Veg Salna

  1. You need 1 small cup of Diced veggies beans, carrot, potato.

  2. You need 2 table spoons of Green Peas.

  3. It’s 2 tea spoons of Ginger garlic paste.

  4. Prepare 2 each of Chopped Onions and Tomato.

  5. Prepare as needed of Fresh mint and coriander leaves.

  6. You need 4 table spoons of Oil.

  7. You need to taste of Salt.

  8. You need of For Salna Masala:.

  9. Prepare 2 of Onions.

  10. You need 1-1/2 of Tomato.

  11. It’s 1/4 tea spoon of Turmeric powder.

  12. You need 1 tea spoon of Red chilli Powder.

  13. It’s 2 tea spoons of Coriander powder.

  14. It’s 1 tea spoon of Fennel seeds / Saunf.

  15. Prepare 4 of Cloves.

  16. Prepare 1 inch of Cinnamon stick.

  17. Prepare 1 of Cardamon.

  18. It’s 1 small piece of Black stone flower / kalpoovu.

  19. Prepare 3 of Star anise.

  20. You need 4 table spoons of Grated coconut.

  21. You need 2 teaspoons of Roasted gram / Pottu kadalai.

  22. It’s 1 tea spoon of Poppy seeds.

  23. You need 2 tea spoons of Oil.

You can add vegetables like carrot, beans, cauliflower, peas, potato, etc to make it healthier.

Salna is a Tamil word I guess.

Plain salna is also popularly known as empty salna.

Empty salna is nothing but plain tomato based masala gravy without vegetables.

Veg Salna instructions

  1. In a pan dry roast the clove, cinnamon, cardamom, star anise, black stone flower, fennel seeds, roasted gram and the poppy seeds till it starts to give out nice aroma..

  2. Take them out. In the same pan heat oil and fry onions and tomatoes till the tomatoes become mushy..

  3. Add in the coriander, turmeric and chilli powders, give few stirs. Grind them to paste adding some water with the roasted spices and keep aside..

  4. Boil the veggies and peas to soft with some salt and keep aside..

  5. Heat a wok with oil and sauté onions with ginger garlic paste and mint leaves.Fry tomatoes till become mushy..

  6. Now transfer the masala paste in to the wok. Stir for a minute. Add the boiled veggies and 2 cups of water. Check in for salt and hotness..

  7. If needed add more. Close the pan and allow to boil for 10 minutes in medium flame. Now you can see the oil floating on the gravy. Add chopped coriander leaves and switch off..

Its so flavorful and tastes great not only with parotta but also with idli, dosa, chapathi and idiyappam.

You can use this salna for making kothu parotta.

Vegetable salna / Vegetable gravy is a perfect side dish recipe for Parotta and also goes very well with chapathi, Idli and Dosa.

This is the most famous and most ordered recipe in small hotels called " Thallu Vandi " in Tamil Nadu and is one of my favorite recipe too.
