You can cook Rahu fish with okra or vindi using 14 ingredients and 17 steps. Here is how you achieve it.

Ingredients of Rahu fish with okra or vindi

  1. You need 7-8 of rahu pieces or any other river fish of your choice.

  2. You need 14-15 of small tender vindi or okra whole.

  3. Prepare 1 of big onion paste.

  4. Prepare 1/2 tsp of garlic paste.

  5. You need 1 tsp of turmeric powder.

  6. You need 1/2 tsp of roasted cumin powder.

  7. You need 1/2 tsp of red chilli powder.

  8. Prepare 1/2 tsp of roasted coriander powder.

  9. It’s 1 tbsp of mustard oil to saute the fish.

  10. It’s 1 tbsp of more mustard oil to cook the gravy.

  11. You need 1-2 of fresh green chilli slitted.

  12. Prepare 4-5 of dry fenugreek seeds.

  13. You need of Few coriander leaves chopped.

  14. Prepare to taste of Salt.

For many people, bhindi is one of their favorite veggies.

Clean fish pieces, make deep slashes in it.

Rahu fish with okra or vindi step by step

  1. Clean and wash fish pieces. Marinade with some salt and 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder for 10 minutes..

  2. Heat a non stick pan and add 1 tbsp of mustard oil and shallow fry fish pieces on both sides lightly..

  3. Keep aside the fish pieces..

  4. Now in the same pan add 1 tbsp more oil..

  5. Splatter some methi(fenugreek) seeds..

  6. Add onion paste and stir with a spatula..

  7. Fry till light golden brown..

  8. Add garlic paste and saute for few seconds..

  9. Now add turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and red chilli powder. Mix well by adding little water..

  10. Cook until oil separates from the spices..

  11. Add salt and 3-4 tbsp of more water..

  12. Add fried fish pieces and vindi or okra. Mix gently to coat the masala with the fish and okra..

  13. Cover and cook in low flame till okra becomes half done..

  14. Remove the lid,stir gently. Add slitted green chillies..

  15. Add water if necessary to adjust gravy consistency..

  16. Check seasoning,add chopped coriander leaves and remove from heat..

  17. Serve with some steamed rice..

Mix all the ingredients for marination and add very little water and make it into a thick paste.

Apply masala all over the fish, deep into the slits and slashes.

Heat coconut oil in a pan, place fish over it.
