Usually paruppu usili is made with many vegetables like beans, cluster beans, cabbage, banana flower (vazhaipoo). This is very popular among tamil brahmins.

Vazhaipoo is an excellent source of fiber.

In our family all of us love plantain flower/banana flower and we include it once every week.

Apart from being rich in fiber, it is said to be effective in treating.

You can cook Plantain flower (vazhaipoo) curry using 12 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you achieve it.

Ingredients of Plantain flower (vazhaipoo) curry

  1. You need 1 of plantain flower(clean well).

  2. Prepare 1 of onion finely chopped.

  3. It’s 5 of green chillies, split into slices.

  4. It’s 5 of garlic flakes chopped into slices.

  5. It’s as required of Curry and coriander leaves.

  6. You need 1/2 cup of cooked toor dal.

  7. Prepare 1/2 cup of grated coconut.

  8. You need 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder.

  9. Prepare 2 of red chillies.

  10. You need to taste of Salt.

  11. It’s as required of Mustard and Bengal gram for seasoning.

  12. You need 25 ml of cooking oil.

  2. Take a pan add oil once it gets heated seasoning it with mustard then add onion green chilli garlic flakes curry and coriander leaves..

  3. Then add cleaned plantain flowers,salt and stir well..

  4. Finally, add cooked toor dal and grated coconut then close the lid and keep it for 7 minutes to cook (no need to add water) because it has some water.

  5. After 7 minutes fry well and transfer to bowl,it is a best side dish for lunch.
