We have grown up eating this sweet since our childhood which doesnot require any cooking.

Flattened rice ( chuda), jaggery ,grated coconut, black pepper,ghee is all you need to make this recipe.

Chuda Ghasa literally translates into flattened rice rubbed between both palms with ghee and… Instructions.

You can cook Chuda Ghasa using 6 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you cook it.

Ingredients of Chuda Ghasa

  1. You need 300 gms of flattened rice (chuda/poha).

  2. Prepare 150 gms of sugar.

  3. It’s 2 tsp of cow ghee.

  4. It’s 1/2 of coconut scraped.

  5. You need 1/2 tsp of black pepper powder.

  6. You need 1/2 tsp of cardamom powder.

Grind the chuda or poha to a coarse powder form.

Scrap the coconut and keep aside.

Crush the black pepper and cardamom into powder separately.

Chuda Ghasa is a traditional Odia Recipe in which Desi Ghee and Scrubbed Coconut is added to the coarsely powdered Poha i.e, Flattened Rice.

Chuda Ghasa instructions

  1. First of all place the flattened rice (chuda/poha) in a wide plate and keep it in the sun for 20-30 minutes..

  2. Transfer it to a mixer grinder. Add in sugar and grind it to a slight coarse powder..

  3. Place the powder in a wide bowl. Add ghee, scraped coconut and mix well..

  4. Now by using both of your palms, rub the flattened rice (chuda/poha) mix thoroughly for 10-15 minutes so that it forms a texture that resembles breadcrumbs..

  5. Finally add black pepper powder and cardamom powder. Mix well..

  6. Now chuda ghasa' is ready to be served..

Chuda Ghasa is a traditional preparation from Odisha.

A coarse mix of beaten rice with sugar, ghee and freshly grated coconut, it is prepared during festivals.

Some people also add chopped fruits and boondi to it to enhance the taste.
