Amongst the upma varieties, tomato upma is my favorite. the reason being I like a lot of recipes made with tomatoes. The tang from the tomatoes perks up the overall flavor in any recipe.

  2. You need 3 of -Diced Tomatoes.

  3. You need 2 of chopped green chilies.

  4. Prepare 1/2 inch of Finely chopped ginger.

  5. Prepare 2teaspoon of -Palyada pudi.

  6. You need 2 of ladle full-Cooking oil.

  7. You need 2tea spoons of -Ghee.

  1. Firstly dry roast rava,and keep it aside..

  2. In a kadai,pour oil,add mustards,ginger,asafoetida,chillies and salt then saute them untill the tomatoes gets cooked..

  3. Once the tomatoes are cooked well,add water and allow them to boil.Then add rava slowly and keep stirring them continously to avoid any lumps..

  4. Add palyada pudi to enhance the taste,then add two spoons of ghee and close the lid for about ten minutes and then put off the flame.Then garnish it with curry and coriander leaves.serve them hot..

This shavige uppittu or vermicelli upma is prepared using vermicelli, onion, tomato and few other spices.
