Bombil fry(Dried Bombay duck fry). So dried fishes are made in form of curries, stir fry, fry etc here. This version of Bombay Duck Fry is a goan version and from my mom's treasurebank. They taste great as a accompaniment with khichdi, pulao, dal rice, curry or bread.
Despite its name, the Bombay Duck is not a duck!
It is a variety of fish that is found in the Arabian sea especially on the coast of Mumbai and Kutch (in Gujarat).
Bombay duck is pretty popular in Mumbai (it has to be!) and is eaten both fresh and in its dried form (salted fish).

You need 10 pieces of dried bombil.

It’s 1 tsp of red chilli powder.

It’s 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder.

You need of salt to taste.

Prepare of lemon juice (optional).

Prepare of few curry leaves.

Prepare 1 tbsp of oil.
In this recipe, we fry the bombils after marinating it with freshly ground red masala.
These can be frozen and fried whenever required, stays good for months.
This is my real comfort food, whenever I want something tasty, spicy and crispy.

Take dry bombil and soak it in water for 20-30 mins….cut its tail and all unwanted parts…cut it into bite size pieces…

Wash thoroughly under water and drain..take a kadai add oil…and curry leaves once hot add the the bombil and saute in oil for a minute thn add the masalas and salt and mix well to coat…at this point can add few drops of lemon juice for the tanginess…totally optional….

Cook on low flame till its crisp…u can crisp it as per ur preference…as i like it crispy and my son likes it little soft…tasty bombil fry is ready to eat with rice and dal….
