Chakkakuru pachamanga curry(jackfruit seed and raw mango curry). The combination of Chakkakuru (dried jackfruit seeds) and raw mango in a coconut gravy is a simple homely food at it's best! This is a great curry recipe with grinded coconut and tastes yummm. Combine the seeds, mango, turmeric and chilli powder in a pressure cooker.

This Chakka kuru Manga curry/Jackfruit seeds and raw mango curry is one of typical curries in my hometown Kerala, India.

This curry is mostly made during the summer months when jackfruit and mango are available in plenty.

After buying a whole jackfruit from the Hong Kong market, I had lots of jackfruit seeds.

  1. It’s 20-25 of jackfruit seeds.

  2. You need 1/2 tsp of turmeric.

  3. It’s 1/2 tsp of red chilli powder.

  4. It’s 4 of green chiilies.

  5. It’s to taste of salt.

  6. It’s 1 of raw mango.

  7. Prepare 3/4 cup of coconut grated.

  8. You need 2 of garlic pods.

  9. It’s 6 of shallots.

  10. You need 1 tsp of cumin seeds.

  11. It’s 1 of green chilli(adjust accordingly).

  12. Prepare 1/4 tsp of sugar.

  13. You need 1 tbsp of coconut oil.

  14. Prepare 1/2 tsp of mustard seeds.

  15. Prepare 2 springs of curry leaves.

  16. You need 2 of whole red chillies.

  17. You need 1 pinch of hing/asafoetifa.

Chakka Kuru Manga Curry is a traditional recipe from Kerala that celebrates both the Jackfruit Seed and Raw Mango.

Flavoured with a coconut-cumin-green chilli paste, this curry is very easy to make and is eaten with hot rice.

When jackfruit seeds are cooked half way add mango pieces and green chillies and cook until soft and tender.

Mash jackfruit seeds slightly with the back of a spoon.

Chakkakuru pachamanga curry(jackfruit seed and raw mango curry) step by step

  1. Peel off the white skin of the seeds and soak in water for 15 mins. Then scrape down the brown skin with knife. Wash thoroughly..

  2. Put the washed seeds in a cooker with turmeric, red chilli powder, green chilles and salt. cook for 2 to 3 whistles..

  3. Cut mangoes length wise and cook in the curry..

  4. Geind coconut with cumin seeds, garlic pods, green chilli,shallots to a fine paste. and pour in to the curry. At this time taste and adjust the salt and add 1/4 tsp sugar (its optional of ur mango is little sweet in taste)..

  5. Take coconut oil in a kadai amd add the mustard seeds and when crackle add the shallots,hing, whole chillies, curry leaves. pour on to the curry..

  6. Enjoy curry with rice..

Now add the ground paste to the cooked jackfruit- mango mixture and mix well.

Heat a pan and add the cooked chakkakuru (jack fruit seeds) with a cup of water.

This curry made with a combination of starchy jackfruit seeds, fleshy drumsticks and sour raw mangoes is a popular one in Kerala.

It is made whenever jackfruit is in season.

Tomoto can be substituted for raw mango if you don't have.
