Onunu food is a delicacy enjoyed mostly by the kalabari and okrika people of Rivers State, Nigeria.

Note: Some people prefer to add salt while pounding instead of when boiling the yam and ripe plantain.

  1. Boil the yam with plantain to be very soft with salt once is done you bring it down and pound in the mortal to mix the yam and plantain very well add palm oil to give it fine color..

  2. Then you cook the red oil pepper soup by pouring little water into the pot add pepper, crayfish and onion once it boils put the palm oil cover it to cook for some time before putting the fish, knorr and salt.

  3. Allow it to cook very well before bringing it down. Enjoy your meal.
