Lasooni Palak is a spinach-based curry having a generous amount of garlic.

The goodness of spinach coupled with strong garlic flavor is a great combination.

One can enjoy this curry with these two chief ingredients or can even add a few veggies like (cauliflower/carrot/ potato) or paneer dices.

You can cook Lasooni Palak using 18 ingredients and 10 steps. Here is how you achieve it.

Ingredients of Lasooni Palak

  1. You need of big bunch of spinach.

  2. You need of coriander.

  3. You need of green chilli.

  4. Prepare of ginger garlic paste.

  5. You need of besan.

  6. It’s of chopped onions.

  7. It’s of whole red chilli.

  8. You need of bay leaf.

  9. You need of cumin seeds.

  10. Prepare of oil.

  11. It’s of butter.

  12. It’s of haldi powder.

  13. You need of coriander powder.

  14. It’s of kitchen king masala.

  15. You need of Salt.

  16. It’s of chopped garlic.

  17. Prepare of chopped palak.

  18. Prepare of kasoori methi.

Lasooni palak is a delicious curry recipe with a prominent flavor of sauteed garlic cloves.

This is very simple recipe belongs to Awadhi Cuisine with an ordinary ingredients list :).

This recipe goes best with rice and chapati.

It even goes best with veg pulao and paratha.

Lasooni Palak step by step

  1. Wash the spinach and Blanch.

  2. Take a mixture jar and add palak coriander and green chilli and make a smooth pure. Keep aside.

  3. Take a pan add oil and butter and let it heat up. Add cumin seeds bay leaf and whole red chilli once crackling add the onions and sauté until golden brown.

  4. Now add ginger garlic paste and roast for few seconds and add all the dry masala and besan. Sauté for few seconds.

  5. Now add chopped palak and mix well.

  6. Add the palak pure mix well and add the kasoori methi.

  7. Depending on the how thick you want the gravy add water. Add salt and mix well. Boil for few seconds.

  8. Take it out into a bowl. Take a small pan add 1 tbsp ghee and let it heat up and add chopped garlic and sauté till golden brown for the tempering.

  9. Now spread over the top of the palak curry.

  10. Your lasooni palak is ready enjoy with roti or paratha.

Remove from the vessel add the ginger and green chillies and blend in a mixer.

In North India, Garlic is known as lasoon / lehsun and spinach as palak.

This lasooni palak is one that uses loads of garlic.

As against traditional recipe that uses loads of ghee / oil, to fry the garlic, I have tried to make it oil free and healthier.

Lasooni Palak, or Saag as its called in some places, is my favourite version of consuming spinach.
