Recipe: Eating on a Dime Chilli Idli Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Chilli Idli. This recipe of Chilli Idli is a makeover on the regular, plain idli with indo-chinese twist. Like the Chilli Gobi and Chilli Babycorn , this recipe uses mini idlis. Leftover idlis work out so well for this recipe, which is an added advantage as you can pass up this dish as a fancy starter/appetizer.

Add the fried idlis and mix gently.

Cut the idli into small cubes.

You can have Chilli Idli using 9 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you cook that.

Ingredients of Chilli Idli

  1. Prepare of mini idlis.

  2. Prepare of soy sauce.

  3. It’s of olive oil.

  4. Prepare of mustard seeds.

  5. Prepare of bell peppers (any colour).

  6. You need of tomato chopped.

  7. Prepare of greens of spring onions.

  8. You need of onion chopped in big pieces.

  9. It’s of tomato ketchup.

Refrigerate the idli for sometime so pieces come neat.

Finely chop the onions, green chillies, garlic and capsicum.

Chilli Idli is an Indo-Chinese fusion dish, there are verities of idlis in South India, chili idli is an entirely different one from all those traditional idlis.

This can be done with the leftover idli or cold idli, do not use hot idlis, perhaps it is not suitable for chili idli.

Chilli Idli instructions

  1. Take olive oil in a pan. Heat it up.

  2. Add mustard seeds When they crackle.Add chopped onions and sauté just for 1-2 minutes.

  3. Now add big chunks of pepper, tomatoes and spring onions..

  4. Addd little soy sauce and ketchup.Stir nicely.

  5. Add idlies. You can use leftover idlies. If you have big ones then cut them in four.

  6. Stir well so that they soak the sauces. Add more sauces if you need. Can add any colour bell peppers. Chilli idli is ready.
