This deep-fried Sago or tapioca cutlets make for a perfect tea-time delight. Made with soaked sago and mashed potatoes, this delicacy is mashed along with green chillies for making it bit spicy and peanuts add a nice crunch to.

Tapioca is a good source of iron, fiber and has low saturated fat.

Mix all the ingredients well - sago, potato, onion, green chillies, coriander and salt.

If you leave the mixture for too long, the onions will let out water & the mixture will turn soggy.

Tapioca Cutlets or Sago Cutlets step by step

  1. Soak 50 gm Tapioca or Sago or Sabudana in water for overnight preferably, otherwise, for 5-6 hours..

  2. Mash boiled potatoes and add spices & Tapioca..

  3. Add green Coriander Leaves and green chillies at this stage..

  4. Make Cutlets in a mould preferably to give similar shape and size. Sprinkle some soaked Tapioca in mould and add mashed potatoes so prepared..

  6. Pour oil in pan. Flame should be medium to low. Shallow Fry the cutlets till they turns golden yellow..

  8. As soon as cutlets turns golden, serve Hot with green Coriander Chutney..

Tapioca Cutlet is prepared by steaming tapioca, mashed and garnished with onion and Coriander leaves.

Tossed in Bread Crumbs and deep fried.

This dish is usually prepared during the days of fasting, but may be consumed as a regular snack item as well.

Slowly drop a few cutlets in the hot oil.
