In my house, one of the favorite accompaniment for ndengu stew is chapati's.

  1. It’s 1 cup of boiled ndengu.

  2. It’s 1 cup of rice.

  3. You need 1 of onion.

  4. Prepare 1 of hoho.

  5. It’s 1 of carrot.

  6. It’s 3 of tomatoes.

  7. Prepare 2 tablespoon of cooking oil.

  8. You need of Salt.

Rice and ndengu stew instructions

  1. Chop the onions.

  2. Slice the carrots.

  3. Chop the tomatoes.

  4. Cut the onions into small pieces.

  5. Add cooking oil in a sufuria together with onions.

  6. Let the onions cook till they turn gold brown the add tomatoes,they cook till some soup is formed,add salt in it.

  7. Add the cup of ndengu together with the carrots and hoho then stir.

  8. Cook them for some minutes then add one cup of water,wait to cook for some minutes.

  9. To the rice place three cups of water in a sufuria,let it boil add salt in it,then add the cup of rice,give it some minutes till the water in the sufuria is done.

  10. Once it is cooked you ready to serve.

However, I discovered Ndengu, which is the Kenyan-style of mung beans, also called green grams.

This greenish stew does not look very inviting, but the taste of the mung beans is wonderful!

With some red colour, it looks more delicious - and it tastes so good!

This is my tomato sauce version of mung beans.

Let it simmer for a few minutes and serve while hot with chapati.
