Onion Pakodas. Onion pakoda recipe - pakoda or pakora are deep fried snack made with gram flour, salt, spices and a main ingredient like onion or a vegetable. Onion pakoda is one of the most popular & much loved snack especially during monsoon & cold winters. These are very commonly prepared in most Indian homes for an evening snack & is served with a cup of Masala tea.

Ingredients of Onion Pakodas

  1. Prepare 2 of sliced onions.

  2. You need 1/2 cup of besan/ gram flour.

  3. Prepare Handful of coriander leaves.

  4. Prepare 2 of green chillies.

  5. Prepare Pinch of hing/asafoetida.

  6. Prepare to taste of Salt.

  7. Prepare 1/2 tsp of Red Chilli powder 7.

  8. You need 1/2 tsp of Ajwain/ carom seeds.

  9. It’s Pinch of soda.

  10. It’s as needed of water.

  11. You need as needed of Oil for frying.

Onion pakoda is a tea time snack and can be served with some chutney or sauce and a few fried & salted green chillies.

At my mom's place they are served with bread or pav (bread rolls).

So I am so used to eating these crispy & crunchy onion pakoda with soft bread slices or bread rolls.

Whether you want to entertain guests or just enjoy the pleasant rainy evening or cold wintery days, crispy and spicy onion pakoda can never go out of fashion.

Onion Pakodas instructions

  1. Slice onions, wash and cut coriander leaves and chillies.

  2. Mix all the ingredients..

  3. Add besan. Also add little water and mix well.. Dont put much water..

  4. Keep kadai and fry them till golden brown. When done take out in plate..

  5. Take out in plate..

  6. Serve them hot with green chutney or sauce or chai as per ur choice..
