Chana Dal Pakoda. These chana dal pakora Are different from the South Indian dal vada in terms of taste and texture. The taste is different as no curry leaves are used here. The texture is different as the chana dal is ground finely unlike the batter made for vada.

It is also easy to make and taste very good when served hot with some spicy chutney or tomato ketchup.

Kadalai paruppu Pakoda or Chana Dal Pakoda is an easy to make Pakoda recipe which goes well as an evening side dish or lunch side dish.

This is made by soaking the chana dal and grinding with spices.

Ingredients of Chana Dal Pakoda

  1. You need 1 cup of Chana Dal/Bengal Gram.

  2. Prepare 1 tsp of Grated Ginger.

  3. It’s 1/2 tsp of Cumin Seeds.

  4. Prepare 1/2 tsp of Fennel Seeds.

  5. You need 4 of Green Chillies (Chopped).

  6. It’s pinch of Asafoetida.

  7. You need 2 cup of Besan/Gram Flour.

  8. It’s 1/2 cup of Rice Flour.

  9. You need 2 of Onions (Sliced).

  10. Prepare 1/2 tsp of Carom Seeds (Ajwain).

  11. You need 1 tsp of Kashmiri Chilli Powder.

  12. You need 1/2 tsp of Turmeric Powder.

  13. Prepare 1 tsp of Cumin Powder.

  14. It’s 1/2 tsp of Soda biocarbonate.

  15. It’s 1 tbsp of Lemon Juice.

  16. Prepare 4 tbsp of Coriander Leaves (Chopped).

  17. It’s to taste of Water.

  18. You need to taste of Salt.

This Chana Dal Pakora with the spectacular taste is quite simple to prepare.

The core ingredient in this recipe of pakora is the Chana Dal.

Chana Dal Pakoda instructions

  1. Wash and soak the chana dal in water for 2 hours or more. Drain the water and rinse the dal 1-2 times. Peel and chop onion, green chillies and coriander leaves..

  2. Grind the chana dal with green chillies, ginger, cumin seeds, fennel seeds and asafoetida into a coarse paste. Add 1-2 tbsp of water only if required. In a large bowl, add chana dal paste, besan and rice flour and mix well..

  3. Add turmeric powder, chilli powder and cumin powder..

  4. Add salt and soda bi-carb..

  5. Add ajwain and coriander leaves..

  6. Add onions and lemon juice and mix well to combine everything. Add water in small quantity to make thick batter for pakoda..

  7. Heat oil for deep frying in a kadai (wok). Once the oil becomes hot, drop spoonful of batter or medium pakora size from hand in hot oil, few at a time, and fry until it becomes golden brown from all sides..

  8. When done, drain on kitchen tissue and repeat the same for rest of the batter..

  9. Serve immediately Crunchy outside and soft inside Chana Dal Pakoda with sauce of your choice and a hot cup of tea or coffee and enjoy as evening snack or breakfast..
