The recipe I'm sharing today is Vendakkai poriyal - an everyday okra/lady fingers/bhindi stir fry South Indian dish.
In Tamil, vendakkai means okra and poriyal is the Tamil word for fried or sometimes sautéed vegetable dish.
Okra also known as lady fingers, has many nutritional benefits, its high in Vitamin C, low in calories, high in vitamin K and folate.

It’s 500 g of okra/ ladies finger.

Prepare 1 big of onion (chopped).

Prepare 2 of spring curry leaves.

Prepare 1 tspn of mustard seeds.

It’s 1/2 tspn of urad dal.

It’s 1 tspn of chanadhal.

You need 1/4 tspn of turmeric powder.

You need 1/2 tspn of red chilli powder.

It’s 2 tbspn of grated coconut.

You need 1 tspn of coriander leaves (chopped).

You need To taste of salt.

Add 2 tbspn oil and fry the okra till the stickiness disappears. Keep aside..

Heat a kadai add 2 tbspn oil add mustard seeds after it cracks add urad dal and chanadhal. Saute till golden..

Add curry leaves,onion and salt. Saute till golden brown..

Now add the spices, turmeric and red chilli powder. Then add okra and mix well..

Cover and cook if needed without adding water. After its done add coriander leaves and coconut. Mix well..

Serve hot with steamed rice and and curry..
