Egg coated yam. Dun Dun Oniyeri (Egg Coated Yam fries) Yamarita ,also known as Dun Dun Oniyeri , is simply thinly sliced Par-boiled/blanched yams dipped into whisked egg+flour& fried until crispy. The difference between Yamarita and the common fried yams (dun dun) is the egg and flour mix, which takes this easy meal to another level. Egg coated yams is a very popular recipe that can be prepared for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

I often make Yamarita when I have leftover boiled yam from the previous day's meal.

Yamarita is often served with any hot dipping sauce or stew.

Egg Coated Fried Yam (Yamarita) was prepared by boiling, then coated in seasoned eggs mixture, I added pepper in the egg mixture for more flavor but it optional you don't have to add the pepper.

This yamarita was served with Cabbage Fried Stew but feel free to serve yours with your favorite side however, this stew is the bomb you might want.

Yamarita is a native word used to describe the outcome of this fried yam chips, which means thinly sliced cooked yams coated with egg and flour and then fried in oil.

Sprinkle with salt and stir fry until the egg yolk is evenly coated.

Egg coated yam step by step

  1. Peel the yam and cut it into sizeable rectangle, rinse it immediately.

  2. Then drain off the water and put inside the pot. Add a pinch of salt and water to about the level of the yam. Cook for 10mims..

  3. Then in another bowl crack your eggs, add pinch of salt and your seasoning and whisk together..

  4. Dredge the yam in the eggs and fry..

  5. When its done then serve!.

Finally, you get home cooking egg yolk yam.

I made my yamarita fries with boiled yam coated in a mixture of egg, flour, and curry powder.

I also added salt, seasoning cube, green pepper, onions, and red pepper, served with egg sauce.

When you done frying the yams, reduce the vegetable oil into a plate, fry the remaining egg wash and the flour batter or make some something like mixed vegetable egg sauce and serve the yam with the sauce.
