  1. Prepare 2-3 tbsp of Flax seeds.

  2. Prepare 2 tbsp of Coriander.

  3. It’s 20 of Red chillies.

  4. You need 2 cups of curry leaves (dried).

  5. It’s 1/2-1 tsp of Methi seeds.

  6. You need 2 tbsp of sesame seeds.

  7. It’s 2 tsp of Jeera.

  8. Prepare 10 of garlic pods.

  9. You need To taste of Salt.

  1. Dry roast all ingredients except salt, garlic and curry leaves together for two mins.

  2. Add garlic to the above and roast for two more mins. Take off the stove and let it cool..

  3. Dry roast curry leaves for a min. If you are using fresh curry leaves, air dry them for some time and then roast. Let it cool.

  4. Grind everything together to powder by adding required salt..

  5. This powder tastes good with Idli, dosa, upma and rice too… Add a spoon of ghee while eating..

Curry leaves a very nice flavor and along with it the nutty taste of flax seeds makes this podi very tasty one.

I like to make idli podi a bit coarse rather than a very fine powder.

The proportions I have given here are guidelines.

Mix the flax seed with the dals and mix well.

Next grind the red chilies and tamarind and curry leaves together into a fine powder.
