How to Royal Perfect Chitau Pitha Delicious, fresh and tasty.
Chitau Pitha. This Pitha makes its appearance in the Odia homes on the occasion of Chitalagi Amabasya, also known as Chitau Amabasya. Basic ingredients are rice and coconut. Tastes nice if served with chutney or khir (khiri).
It is a variety of rice pancake which is made during chitalagi amabasya or sravan amavasya.
I've tried to make chitou pitha but it's always breaking from middle.
Can you please let me know why my chitou is breaking and is there any specific rice to make chitou pitha or not.

Ingredients of Chitau Pitha

You need 500 gm of Rice.

You need 1 of Grated Coconut.

It’s 1/2 tsp of Baking Soda.

You need to taste of Salt.

Earlier we used to cook chitau pitha only on wood fire chulha and that too in earthen pots like 'palama' but today we are used to different other utensils.
Then thereafter open the lead and take out delicious and crispy chitau pitha.
And prepare pithas from rest of the batter.
Chitau Pitha step by step

Soak the rice for about 4-5 hours..

Grind together soaked rice, grated coconut, and slight water. Make it into a smooth paste..

Then add baking soda and salt to the batter and mix it properly. Keep the batter till it fermentation process..

Heat a pan and add a scoop full batter in the centre. Holding the handle of pan start rotating so that batter will spread little..

Cover the lid of the pan and let it cook for about a minutes in low flame. No need to flip the pitha..

Serve the Pitha along with chutney or jaggery..
Finally serve this Chitau Pitha any decorated plate or bowl.
Blend the rice and coconut pieces together and make a very fine paste.
Method: Wash the rice & urad dal properly, drain all the water and add grated coconut to it.
