You need 1 bowl of mustard oil.

It’s 3 of medium onion, finely chopped.

You need as per taste of salt (or to taste).

Prepare 1 tsp of Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder.

You need 1 tsp of cumin powder.

It’s 1 tsp of cumin seeds.

Prepare 1 tsp of coriander powder.

You need 2 of bay leaf.

You need 3 of whole cloves.

Prepare 1/4 of black pepper powder.

You need 3 of green cardamom.

Prepare 1 tsp of chilli powder (if needed to enhance the spice. Please taste before adding).

It’s 1 of chicken (approx 500-600g cut into 12-14 pieces), bone in, curry pieces.

Prepare 1 tbsp of Coriander leaf to garnish.

Although I don't think anyone calls it murghi ka salan any more and we all just end up calling it Chicken ka Salan (cz amm….millenials??) But anywhooo…it is one of the oldest and bestest chicken curry recipe from Pakistan and also India I think.

Made a paste of take 1/4 onion and garam masala..

Heat the oil in a deep pot Put the chicken in the pot and fry it by adding salt..

Then put cardamom bay leaves in the same oil and fry it lightly.Until the smell.and Put onions and fry them till they turn brown in color..

Add garlic ginger paste and stir for 2 minutes.
Add onion and garam masala paste and roast for 5 minutes..
- All the spices are roasted by adding cumin powder red chilli powder Kashmiri chilli powder, coriander powder, black pepper powder.
Add a little water and roast till the spices leave the oil.

Oil is leaving in the spices, now lets add chicken to the spices..

Mix the chicken well in the spices and let it cook for 10 minutes.
Now add some water to the chicken to make curry and heat it for a while..
- Add a spoonful of green coriander leaves, green chillies and kewda water to the chicken and mix well.
Cook the chicken until it comes to a boil.
Cook the chicken on low heat.
- Cook the chicken for 15 minutes till it melts.
Chicken salan is ready, now take it out in a pot..

Chicken shorba is ready. From now on we can enjoy Salan with Roti with Paratha with Rice or pulao along with Naam..
