  1. You need 500 gms of boal fish.

  2. Prepare 10 gms of mustard seeds.

  3. You need to taste of Green chillies.

  4. It’s to taste of Salt.

  5. It’s 2 tsp of Turmeric powder.

  6. You need 3 tbsp of Mustard oil.

  7. You need 7 pcs of Banana leaves.

Boal macher (helicopter cat fish) patai bhaja instructions

  1. Take a bowl add the washed fish.

  2. Add Turmeric powder, salt, paste (mustard seeds and green chillies)and raw mustard oil mix well.

  3. Marinate the fish and keep aside for 30 mins.

  4. Take a karai…add 6 banana leaves one on top of each other like a layer.

  5. Now put the marinated fish on top of the banana leaves and cover with the last leaf.

  6. Place a cover over that leaf and put on high flame.

  7. Cook for around 10-15 mins.

  8. The leaves will start browning and the water coming out of the fish will dry.

  9. The fish is ready when the water dries up and the dish comes in oil….the fragrance of the burnt banana leaves will give a beautiful aroma to the dish.

  10. The dish can be eaten with plain rice and salad.
