Black Pepper Chicken Curry is a South Indian style Chicken Curry using lots of ginger, garlic, curry leaves and black peppercorns.

The chicken is marinated in a ginger-garlic mixture and then cooked in a veggie-based sauce sauted with curry leaves.

Then it's seasoned with a black peppercorn based masala blend and allowed to cook low and slow.

Ingredients of Black Pepper Chicken Curry

  1. Prepare 1/2 kg of Chicken.

  2. Prepare 5 Cloves of Garlic.

  3. It’s 2 of medium Onion sliced.

  4. It’s 1 Cup of yogurt.

  5. You need 1 of Bay leaf.

  6. It’s 2 of cloves.

  7. Prepare 6 of black peppercorns.

  8. It’s 1/2 tsp of Cumin seeds.

  9. You need 2 sticks of cinnamon.

  10. It’s 1 of small piece star anise.

  11. You need 1 tsp of salt as per taste.

  12. You need 2 tsp of Black pepper powder.

  13. You need 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder.

  14. It’s 1 pinch of black seeds.

  15. Prepare 1 tsp of roasted crushed Cumin.

  16. It’s 1 of &1/2 tsp roasted crushed coriander.

  17. Prepare 1/2 tsp of garam masala powder.

  18. Prepare of Water as required.

  19. You need 1/2 Cup of Oil.

I was looking for a chicken black pepper curry recipe n I came across your recipe which i made it.

It was super delicious and yummy.

I would recommend to my friends as well for the same recipe.

Spicy black pepper chicken gravy goes well with roti, rice or idli or dosa too.

Black Pepper Chicken Curry instructions

  1. Heat 1/2 cup oil in a pan and fry onion till translucent. Add garlic cloves, and fry till raw smell vanishes from it..

  2. Allow it to cool and blend it in a blender with half cup of water..

  3. In the same pan add the remaining oil and add the chicken pieces. Fry lightly and add bay leaf, cumin seeds, peppercorns, cloves, cinnamon sticks and piece of star anise..

  4. Now add the black pepper powder, crushed coriander, crushed Cumin, Black seeds,salt, turmeric powder and garam masala powder and cook well..

  5. Then Add the onion,garlic blended mixture cook well and add 1 cup yogurt and cook..

  6. Add 1 cup water mix well cover the chicken simmer for few minutes until you see the oil on top and sides. Chicken is done..

  7. Sprinkle garam masala powder. Serve hot with any kind of rice or any kind of roti..
