Recipe: Eating on a Dime Real Peach Cobbler Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Real Peach Cobbler. To me though, it's not a peach cobbler, it's peaches and biscuits. I live in the south and I don't know why this would be called southern peach cobbler. It was way to dry my family added cream to it just because it was to dry, and didn't have much of a taste.

Or, as we call it in parts of the South, "Cuppa' Cobbler." By Joe Sevie r.

This is my grandmother's Southern homemade peach cobbler recipe, handed down to my mother in Louisiana.

Peach cobbler is one of our all-time favorite summer desserts.

We love it with a big ol' scoop of ice cream or some freshly whipped cream right on top (or maybe even both!).

Real Peach Cobbler step by step

  1. Set oven to 400°and butter a glass 9 x 13 pan. Place 1 roll or 1/2 dough in bottom and up sides. Poke holes with fork and bake for 10 min..

  2. While crust is baking, mix prepared peaches with sugar, cinnamon, almond and cornstarch..

  3. After pre baking crust, poor peach mixture onto crust. Dot top with pats of butter. Roll out other crust and tear or cut to cover entire top of mixture as much as possible..

  4. Spread top of crust with additional softened butter and sprinkle with additional cinnamon and sugar..

  5. Bake for 60 to 75 min or until desired doneness - best browned and crisp. Cool a bit and serve warm with or without ice cream or whipped cream. Husband likes it warm…I like it best cold!.

There are two different styles of cobbler and both are equally delicious.

Ree Drummond makes both versions: Her famous Blackberry Cobbler has a cake-like topping, and this.

In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and remaining sugar; stir in milk just until combined.

I use a can of peach pie filling instead of a can of cling peaches.

How to store and reheat peach cobbler: Peach cobbler is best enjoyed warm, right after it's baked.
