Plain Podi Dosa. Traditionally use PODI as condiment on Idlis, dosas and other south Indian dishes. Each kind of Podi contains different spices. Chutney powders can be mixed with rice and eaten,also be used as an accompaniment for idly and dosa,topped with sesame oil or ghee like idly podi.

Ingredients of Plain Podi Dosa

  1. It’s For of Dosa Batter-.

  2. You need 11/2 cups of rice (soaked for 6hrs).

  3. Prepare 1/2 cup of Splitted white lentil (udad dal)(soaked for 6 hrs).

  4. It’s 1/2 tsp of Fenugreek seeds(soaked with rice).

  5. It’s 2 tbsp of flatten rice (Poha) (Soaked it and put while grinding).

  6. You need 2 tbsp of curd.

  7. It’s as per taste of Salt.

  8. It’s as required of Water.

  9. It’s 2 tbsp of podi masala (gun powder).

  10. You need as required of Butter.

  11. It’s For of serving-.

  12. You need as required of Sambhar.

  13. You need as required of Coconut Chutney.

Plain dosa recipe goes really well along with sambhar, chutney or idli podi.

Dosas are tasty as well as healthy breakfast usually served with coconut chutney, idli podi and sambar.

Today we are going to look at how to prepare plain dosa recipe at home.

This is not a paper roast dosa or an uthappam, but somewhere in the middle, perfect for everyday breakfast or dinner with some dosa podi.

Plain Podi Dosa instructions

  1. Drain all water from the Soaked ingredients. Take a grinding jar add all ingredients with curd. Crush it. To get a smooth sticky batter if required add water. Take it out in the bowl. Whisk it. Cover it and keep it for fermentation in a hot place for 2-3 hours..

  2. After 3 hrs of fermentation add salt to the batter and water mix it well. Mix it vigorously so will get batter lighter and flowing consistency..

  3. Get all ingredients ready. Put the dosa tava on medium flame to get hot. Sprinkle some water so the tava get little cool. Wipe it with cloth..

  4. Pour the batter on hot tava and spread with the ladle..

  5. Once the dosa ready from one side. Spread podi masala on dosa. Put the put butter. Spread itn let dosa get crispy. Roll it on tava..

  6. Serve plain Podi dosa with Sambhar, coconut Chutney and podi masala..

Mix the Podi with hot sesame oil or ghee and serve it on the side with Idli, Dosa, Uttapam or even Paniyarams.

You can smear it over the dosa while cooking it and either serve it plain or add some spicy potato masala on top to make Podi Masala Dosa.

If you are stir frying the leftover Idlis, add some of this powder to add that spicy flavour to it.
