How to Make Tasty Sooji halwa Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Sooji halwa. Suji ka halwa or Sheera is a classic Indian semolina pudding made with sugar, ghee and dry fruits. The recipe I have shared is a family heirloom recipe. We have been making this suji halwa recipe for decades during family get togethers, special occasions & festivals.

Sooji ka halwa was made in home whenever we wanted to have something sweet.

I remember eating bowls of sooji halwa during Navratri!

What is Sooji Halwa Extremely delicious, easy and quick Suji ka Halwa or Sooji ka Halwa Recipe (Indian Semolina Pudding).

You can cook Sooji halwa using 6 ingredients and 12 steps. Here is how you achieve that.

Ingredients of Sooji halwa

  1. It’s 1/2 cup of sooji (semolina).

  2. Prepare 1/3 cup of ghee.

  3. You need 1 1/4 cups of water.

  4. It’s 1/2 cup of sugar.

  5. You need 5 of almonds sliced.

  6. It’s 1/4 teaspoon of cardamom powder.

This recipe is made using sooji, ghee, water, sugar and cardamom.

Perfect for Diwali or any Indian festival or celebrations  Suji ka Halwa / Sooji ka Halwa is one of the MOST Popular and frequently made Indian desserts of all.

This Indian Semolina Pudding is also called as Rava Kesari or Rava Sheera in some parts of the country.

Often during Puja or a festive ritual, Suji Halwa is prepared along with Panchamrit in most of the Indian Suji Ka Halwa or Sooji Halwa is a popular Indian dessert which is especially prepared during various festivals and religious functions.

Sooji halwa step by step

  1. Pour water in a small saucepan and bring it to boil over medium flame, it will take around 3-4 minutes..

  2. Remove it from the flame and keep aside until you reach step -4 below..

  3. Take sooji in a heavy-based pan, add ghee and heat it over medium flame..

  4. Stir and mix using a spatula..

  5. Roast it until golden - brown. it will take anywhere between 8 to 10 minutes..

  6. Reduce flame to low and slowly add boiled water and mix by stirring constantly..

  7. Stir and cook to avoid any lump formation..

  8. Increase flame to medium and cook until all water gets absorbed..

  9. Add sugar and cardamom powder..

  10. Stir until sugar dissolves and it has a semi-solid consistency..

  11. Add and mix almonds after reserving some of them for garnishing..

  12. Tha sooji halwa is now ready for serving..

During festivals -Navratra Puja aka Navratri Puja or Durga Puja, Vijayadashmi aka Dusshera, Diwali etc Suji Halwa is served along with other festive food items - Puri, Kala Chana, Aloo Ki Sabji, Jeera Aloo and Boondi Raita or Kaddu Raita (Pumpkin Raita).

Sooji halwa/halva is a popular Indian/ Pakistani dessert served in breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

It is also called suji ka halwa.

It tastes great alone too but it is amazing when paired with poori.
