Methi Daal fry. there are myriad variations and to this traditional and simple methi dal fry recipe. the variation completely depends upon the region and each state of india has its own way of cooking to this recipe. one such popular variation is menthu kura pappu or menthi kura pappu from telugu cuisine or andhra cuisine. in andhra style it is typically cooked with mixed dal of toor dal and yellow moong dal. Ingredients of Methi Daal fry

  1. You need 1 cup of toor dal boiled.

  2. It’s 2 cups of finely chopped fenugreek leaves.

  3. It’s 3 tsp of oil.

  4. Prepare 2 tsp of gram daal flour.

  5. Prepare 2 tsp of ginger garlic paste.

  6. Prepare 1 pinch of asafoetida (hing).

  7. You need 1 tsp of Cumin seeds.

  8. It’s 1 tsp of garam masala.

  9. Prepare to taste of Salt.

Adding greens to the dal enrich the taste and make this as a wholesome food.

Palak dal and Methi dal are some of the commonly used greens in the dal.

Methi Daal fry instructions

  1. First we boil toor dal in pressure cooker with enough water then mash keep aside..

  2. In a pan heat oil add cumin seeds when it the crackles add ginger garlic paste then add red chilli powder and saute well..

  3. Now add methi leaves and cover with lid cook for 5 mins..

  4. Now pour the mashed toor dal to this tempering mixture.

  5. Add water and salt as required.

  6. Lastly add garam masala and stir well cook for just 5 mints..

  7. Ready to serve with steamed rice You can garnish with coriander leaves..
