Jackfruit jam. Jackfruit jam is a delicious recipe which is loved by both adults and kids. It is made from the ripe pulp of jackfruit and is generally used as a spread over bread or chapatti. It is made from jaggery, ghee, and ripe jackfruit pods and tastes like magic!

I have always loved eating jackfruit when it is ripe.

Pressure Cook the jackfruit with little water.

Allow to cool and make a puree.

You can have Jackfruit jam using 4 ingredients and 7 steps. Here is how you achieve it.

Ingredients of Jackfruit jam

  1. It’s of jackfruit deseeded.

  2. You need of Jaggery.

  3. You need of Cardamom powder.

  4. It’s of ghee.

Heat a non stick pan with the pulp and add the sugar.

Cook on high till the puree thickens.

Jackfruit is delicious eaten fresh provided that it is ripe.

Unripe jackfruit are only good for cooking dishes and not for desserts.

Jackfruit jam step by step

  1. First boil the jaggery with water just enough to soak it, then strain it and keep aside..

  2. Now take the jackfruit and pressure cook it with little water and keep aside..

  3. Now take mixi jar and blend the fruit well..

  4. Now take a big wok or a Kadai let it be deep to prevent too much spluttering, then add the clean jaggery to the wok and allow it to get thick. To check you can add to cup of water if it does not dissolve its correct consistency. Now add the jackfruit paste and cardamom powder to the jaggery..

  5. Mix well and bring it to a boil once done add 1/2 of the 1/2 cup ghee and mix well and bring it to a boil for 3 mins..

  6. Now second time after boiling for 3 mins add the rest of the ghee and bring it to a boil. If it’s done in two steps the ghee will mix well and give a good glaze.At this stage you will see it becoming darker in colour..

  7. Serve yummy jackfruit jam with bread or roti.Store for a month in the fridge..
