How to Make Delicious Milk Pedas Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Milk Pedas. Milk Peda is one of the popular Indian sweets which is usually made on the special occasions and festivals like Rakshabandhan, Diwali, etc. Traditionally, pedas are made from milk and sugar but that is very time consuming. Milk Pedas are semi-soft balls which are prepared all over India and have different varieties in different states.

For this recipe, y ou can use homemade mawa or store-bought mawa.; If using store-bought mawa, then that needs to be cooked with other ingredients for a few minutes to form rich and creamy pedas.; Before adding milk powder and sugar to mawa, make sure the mixture is comfortably warm.

There are many varieties of peda that can be made by adding various dry fruits, flavorings like saffron or cardamom powder or rose water and some more ingredients like milk powder or coconut etc.

These beautiful little pedas (Guyanese know this as peera) always made an appearance in our home during Hindu holidays and religious prayer functions (jhandis), but they are so delicious that they can be served at any time.

You can cook Milk Pedas using 7 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you cook it.

Ingredients of Milk Pedas

  1. You need 2 cups of dry milk powder.

  2. You need 3-4 spoon of ghee or clarified butter.

  3. You need 1 cup of Condensed Milk.

  4. Prepare 1 tbsp of Cardamom Powder.

  5. You need of Few drops yellow colour (Optional).

  6. You need 1 of pistachios for garnishing.

  7. It’s few of Kesar strands in warm milk.

I like to think of them as little round pieces of smooth fudge.

Mom always made two types of peeras, milk powder and a plain milk fudge peera whenever we had religious.

If it is too thick the pedas will be hard.

In that case, just sprinkle few drops of milk and knead it and make pedas.

Milk Pedas step by step

  1. In a microwave bowl add ghee, milk powder and condensed milk mix well and heat it for 1 minute..

  2. Take the bowl out, add the cardamom powder and stir the mixture well.. Add kesar milk and mix well…

  3. Heat it again for 1 more minute. Repeat this process for 5 to 7 times and every time you take out the bowl from the microwave, stir the mixture well. This time the mixture have a nice texture to it and would be beginning to leave the sides..

  4. Let it cool down for 15 to 20 mins. Grease your palms with ghee and Make balls rolling between your palms. Press gently from center. Garnish them with pistachios.

I added saffron to get the kesar flavor, you can add a tblsp of cococa powder to get chocolate peda or you can cardamom powder to get a nice cardamom flavor.
