Recipe: Eating on a Dime Cheppa kizhangu puli kulambhu Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Cheppa kizhangu puli kulambhu. Puli Kulambu or Kara kulambu is a traditional and popular dish of Tamil Nadu. We love all kulambu varieties and I make kulambu once in a week. Today I am sharing with you kara kulambu prepared with yam/karunai kilangu.

It is also used in treating piles.

Sweet potato kuzhambu / Sakkaraivalli kizhangu kulambu in Tamil is an easy, yummy and quick kuzhambu recipe that can be prepared in a pressure cooker or Instant pot.

As sweet potatoes are in season now, I used this veggie which I bought during pongal festival.

You can cook Cheppa kizhangu puli kulambhu using 16 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you achieve that.

Ingredients of Cheppa kizhangu puli kulambhu

  1. It’s 250 gm of Cheppa kizhangu.

  2. You need 4 of Garlic cloves.

  3. It’s 2 of Big onion.

  4. You need 2 of Tomato.

  5. It’s As needed of curry leaves.

  6. You need 2 tsp of Coriander powder.

  7. It’s 1 tsp of Chilli powder.

  8. You need 1 tsp of Turmeric powder.

  9. It’s 1 tsp of Fennel seeds.

  10. You need 2 tbsp of Gingelly oil.

  11. You need 1 of Tamarind gooseberry siz.

  12. It’s of To grind.

  13. You need 2 tbsp of Coconut.

  14. Prepare 1 cup of Small onion.

  15. Prepare 1 tsp of shah jeera(cumin seeds).

  16. You need 1 tsp of black Pepper powder.

Even though this is my first try, we all loved it very much.

Very easy quick method and traditional method for karunai kilangu puli kulambu / kara kulambu from aachis home. சுலபமான எளிதான விரைவான.

Pidi kizhangu more tend to cause itchiness than Chatti kizhangu.

So even when I make poriyal/fry I used to add tamarind paste and lots of onion so that it will remove the itchiness.

Cheppa kizhangu puli kulambhu step by step

  1. Boil cheppa kizhangu for 20 mins with enough water and peel outer skin and keep it ready..

  2. In oil add fennel and mustard seed, then add garlic and curry leaves.

  3. Then add onion and wait till its turn into golden colour, then add tomatos.

  4. When tomatos cooks, add coriander powder, chilli powder and turmeric powder.Then add cooked cheppa kizhangu.

  5. Add tamarind water and let it boil.Then add grind masala (grind raw onion, coconut, jeera and pepper).

  6. Wait till the raw smell goes off and serve with hot rice.

This Kulambu is made with fresh spices it really tastes amazing.

Elephant yam or karunai kizhangu added in a tangy delicious gravy prepared for rice.

We make it just like any other puli kuzhambu.

This is very good for health.

We call it senai kizhangu also.
