Now in the marinated chaap bowl, add this capsicum and chilli paste, red chilli powder, garam masala, tandoori masala, malai, paneer and salt.

Now take a pan and and add oil.

Tandoori Soya Chaap instructions

  1. . Take Soya chaaps and remove the (ice cream) sticks and cut into thick chunks.

  2. Now this step is purely optional, I fry these chunks in little oil till nice golden and then marinate it as I dont relish the raw meaty texture by frying it's meatiness is not felt. Although this makes its a slightly non healthy but then it's ok once a while. Even the one you get it on the streets are first fried and then put in tandoor. You can totally avoid frying and use as it is..

  3. Now for the marinate, take a bowl, add curd and all the spices, along with melted butter. To enhance the colour, you can add tandoori red colour to it else you can also avoid it.

  4. Marinate it for a hour, the more time you marinate the more better flavours you get..

  5. Now skewer these Soya chaap chunks either in wooden skewers or oven skewers (rods). You can roast them on direct flame or in preheated oven on 180 degrees for 20 mins. If cooking in the oven, keep basting some melted butter in short duration else it will become too dry also cook on both sides or in a grill pan. I mostly cook it on direct gas flame each skewer one by one. Else sometimes when in a hurry just place all of them in an oven till nice and charred..

  6. Dont discard the remaining curd mixture…reduce it in a pan till it is cooked and entire water evaporates, can be used as a dip to relish these chaap's.

  7. Now remove the nice charred Soya chaaps from the skewer, add some more melted butter, lemon juice, chaat masala give it a good mix and serve it with green chutney and onion slices with few toothpicks to eat with (as you get on the streets)You can serve them directly on the wooden skewers as shown in the pic..
