Kothu Parota. Having blogged Tamil Nadu/Kerala style parotta and chicken salna, its now time to bring to you an irresistible street food of Tamil Nadu that combines both of them in a mish mash of sorts. I am talking about Kothu Parotta. Kothu Parotta is prepared with mixed vegetables that include carrot, beans and green peas, egg kothu parotta calls for scrambling eggs while chicken kothu parotta has chicken.

It is made using parotta from Bleached flour; locally called Maida.

Other variants of kothu parotta are Muttai kothu parotta, chilli parotta.

It is also called Veechu parota (in Kerala).

You can have Kothu Parota using 8 ingredients and 9 steps. Here is how you cook that.

Ingredients of Kothu Parota

  1. You need 5 of Ready made Kerala Parota.

  2. It’s 1 of Onion big.

  3. It’s 1 of Carrot big.

  4. Prepare 1 of Capsicum.

  5. It’s 1 of Green Chilli.

  6. Prepare 1 spoon of sambar masala or red chilli powder.

  7. It’s to taste of Salt.

  8. Prepare as needed of Coriander chopped.

Kothu Parotta actually means 'minced' Parotta.

There are many variations of Kothu parotta- egg / meat / chicken / veg version etc.

Kothu Parota instructions

  1. In a tawa add 2 spoons of oil..

  2. Add mustard, curry leaves.

  3. Add Onion fry till translucent.

  4. Add Grated carrot fry for a min.

  5. Add cut capsicum fry till they are properly cooked.

  6. Add salt to taste and sambar powder.

  7. Fry the readymade Kerala Parotabn ghee and make it into small pieces.

  8. Add it to the fried vegs fry for a minute. Put off the flame. Cover it for 2mins and it is ready to serve..

  9. Garnish with chopped coriander..
