How to Easy Perfect Pecan Agar Delicious, fresh and tasty.
Pecan Agar. My mum made Agar with Japanese walnuts for New Year's eve and the New year. I like them but it's hard to get here. I tried with pecans instead of walnuts.
Agar-agar is a plant-based gelatin derived from seaweed.
Agar-agar powder may be found at Asian markets, many natural grocers and on Amazon.

Ingredients of Pecan Agar

Prepare 1000 ml of (4cup+2Tbsp) water.

You need 2 sticks (8 g) of agar.

It’s 130 g (1/2 cup) of packed brown sugar.

It’s Pinch of salt.

Prepare 150 g (11/2 cups) of pecans, roasted and finely chopped.
Pour over the crust, trying not to get the filling between the crust and the pan.
Combine sugar and agar-agar; set aside.
Add sugar-agar mixture, bring to boil and cook for a minute on medium heat.

Roast pecans and chop finely. I cooked at 100°C/210°F for 30 mins. I read at 160°/320° for 5 mins is fine..

Put water in a pan and heat over moderate heat. Pour agar while the water is still cold..

Cook it continuously stirring until the agar is completely dissolved..

After the agar is dissolved and boiling, simmer a couple more minutes..

Add sugar and salt, mix until dissolved..

Add pecans and mix well..

Pour the agar mixture into your dish. Let it cool for 10 mins..

Put it in the fridge and serve cool :).
