  1. You need 2 cups of Cabbage.

  2. Prepare 1.5 cups of Moong dal.

  3. It’s 1 tsp of Urad dal.

  4. You need 1 tsp of Cumin seeds.

  5. It’s 1/4 tsp of Pepper corns.

  6. Prepare 3 of Red chillies.

  7. You need 1 tbsp of Coconut.

  8. Prepare 1/2 tsp of Mustard seeds.

Actually I prepared this cabbage kootu and salad for lunch one day.

We mixed kootu with rice and had salad as a side dish for this.

We all loved it very much.

Sambar,kootu,karakulambu,morkulambu are the iconic main items in a TamilNadu lunch menu and in this special spread of tongue tickling dishes Kootu has a very special place.

Cabbage Kootu and long beans curry step by step

  1. Cook mung dal and cabbage for 3 whistles and keep it aside.

  2. In a pan add oil add urad dal,cumin seeds,pepper corns and red chillies until golden brown. Add coconut and grind it into a coarse powder.

  3. In a pan add oil,when it is hot add mustard seeds. When it splutter add curry leaves and cooked cabbage moong dal mixture. Add turmeric powder,red chilli powder and salt. Cook on a medium flame add the grounded powder and Hing. Let it boil fr few minutes. Coconut oil will give flavour to the kootu.

I love moong dhal specially for its nutty taste and love to have it in any form but particularly the paruppu payasam made with this yellowy goodness is in top of my lists.

Kadhamba curry is nothing but a mix of many vegetables.

In this recipe I have mixed beans, cabbage, carrot and peas.

This is all time favorite for my family and i believe many of us like this as it is rich in combination of vegetables.

This is again simple to make and kadamba curry would be helpful with respect to the quantity if we have guests at our home.
